3/1/2024 0 Comments Nik collection for mac 10.6.8I opened it with the version 2.3.0 not even from the local disk but from external USB2 disk - it took about 12 seconds!! to see the initial photo and total 20 sec to open completely !!!!!!!!!!! Changing version 20 sec each - previously about 5-10 minutes with this specific file! Then I saw that default cache is not enabled so I checked to enable, and it took even less 15sec!! both open and change version!īad news. It used to create a ~5GB cache while opening and thus it took over 10 minutes to initial open! Not to mention the disk space needed. ![]() WOW! This is amazing! Since I own CEP3, I had to install the 32-bit. Have a look here for the "non-trial" version. As far as I know they do not do open releases of Betas. Just go to your local Nikon website and download it from the support area there.Į & MS It's just that Sorin gave a link to the page that has the free trial version, this is a proper release, and Nikon's trials are the full releases. Time to test some of your presets on it, Sorin. ![]() It says this is a trial version, I assume it is a beta & an approved version will follow? I'm also trying it out - agree with Sorin, first impression is that it is a lot faster rendering when there are lots of edit steps, and is also more respsonsive when making changes to a step when there are lots of steps. There isn't MT on all cores but it's faster and loads images with many edits a lot faster I've installed the x32 version o win7 圆4. ![]() I suspect that it is an issue that only affects High Sierra Mac users with an APFS startup disk and possibly only recent model MBP owners based on the various forum posts I’ve seen on the subject.Testing it a bit, there is a visible speed increase. This Photoshop crashing behaviour is a constant and repeated concern amongst Nik Collection users yet there has so far not being any clear and reproducible fix offered in the many months since. I need to be able to re-adjust images from the raw files but the Nik Collection tools under both Google’s ownership and now DXO’s are preventing me from being able to do that in my workflow without considerable workarounds, all of which require rendering smart layers. This is a deal-breaker for my professional workflow. Specifically: cropping the image, or adjusting another smart filter layer (sharpening for instance). Likewise, when I then go back to the same Nik filter by clicking on the smart layer filter effect, make a re-adjustment, and return to PS, that works as expected.īut, if I do anything that requires the Nik layer to be re-rendered in the background, Photoshop crashes. When I open a Nik filter such as SilverFXpro, make the adjustments and then return to PS (with ‘apply the filtered effect to the current layer’) I get the expected result. ![]() I roundtrip the file through Photoshop with ‘Edit in > Open as a Smart Object’ (because that enables me to modify the underlying raw file if necessary and also to go back and update a setting such as a Nik filter effect, even after it has been saved back to Lightroom). Since I upgraded to High Sierra on Mac (15"mid 2017 MBP 14,3) I too am experiencing the Photoshop crashing problem when a Nik Filter is re-adjusted. I’m an experienced professional photographer and longtime user of Nik Collection.
